Athletic stun leadersAnnan made further inroads in their play-off bid after sneaking past Scottish League Two leaders Arbroath 2-0 at Galabank.Arbroath, who lost 3-1 to Queen's Park last time out, enjoyed much of the early exchanges as Annan goalkeeper Jordan Hart had made two quickfire saves to deny Paul McManus.Thomas Grant then went close for the visitors, while Annan also lost Matthew Flynn to injury after 33 minutes, but both sides were goalless at the break.Peter Weatherson was showing glimpses of his abilities for Annan, his diagonal ball landing on the roof of the net.However, it was Steven Swinglehurst who gave the home fans joy on the hour mark, making the most of the rebound after a free-kick from Andrew Mitchell.Amid some late Arbroath pressure, Weatherson made the game safe for Annan early in stoppage time when he fired into the top corner after being set up by Josh ToddSource : PA
