Neil Macfarlane struck deep into stoppage time to earn 10-man Annan a 2-2 draw against Elgin.
The hosts fell behind twice to goals from Jason Crooks but Bryan Gilfillan cancelled out the first effort before Macfarlane provided the late drama.
Both sides raced out of the traps, with the first three goals coming in the opening 11 minutes.
Crooks drilled in a low shot to hand Elgin the lead after just three minutes but their celebrations were short-lived as Gilfillan hammered in the leveller from 20 yards after six minutes.
The excitement continued when Crooks turned home his second from close range.
Elgin must have thought they were heading for the top three when Aaron Muirhead was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence before the break.
But veteran midfielder Macfarlane capitalised on some hesitancy in the visitors` defence to slam in the equaliser with just seconds remaining.
